The village of Melkridge is surrounded by spectacular countryside in the heart of Hadrian's Wall country - Vindolanda and Housesteads are historic visitor attractions very close by. With its own secluded garden and a panoramic view of the surrounding hills, High Town Cottage is the perfect setting for a relaxing holiday. There are shops, pubs and restaurants all within two miles.

It is only 2 miles from Haltwhistle ( known geographically as the centre of Britain) and 15 minutes in the other direction brings one to the popular town of Hexham with its 7th century abbey. Set just off the A69 midway between Newcastle and Carlisle, the outstanding Northumberland coast and the Lake District are easily reached.

Upon arrival you will be welcomed with homemade biscuits, teabreads, and a bottle of wine and fresh flowers from the cottage garden, when in season.
